The First Annual Texas Testicle Festival is Coming to Fredericksburg

by

Uncross your legs and head over to the town of Fredericksburg on January 18 from noon to 8 pm to have a ball at the first annual Best of Texas Testicle Festival! Hosted by the Best of Texas, the Texas Testicle Festival is sure to be a nutty time. According to the Facebook page, attendees will be tasting and eating a wide variety of animal testicles including bull testicles as well as organs from calves, lambs, roosters, and turkeys. Along with all the rocky mountain oysters you can handle, the festival will also include a full bar, lawn games, live music, and a small petting zoo for the kids.

While this is the first testy fest for the Best of Texas group, it isn’t the first in the United States, or for Texas for that matter. Castell General Store has been running its own Testicle Fest for over 8 years. The city of Clinton, Montana has been serving up the cowboy fare since 2005 at their annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival. In some parts of the country you don’t need a festival to try a bite of a fried testicle. One place to always grab one is at Coors Field during a Colorado Rockies baseball game.

Eating animal testicles has been in practice for ages. Back in the Roman times, it was believed “eating a healthy animal’s organ might correct some ailment in the corresponding human organ”. Today, farmers remove testicles from their animals so they can grow meatier and behave less masculine. Once the testicles are removed from the animal, young farmers would clean and fry it up for a good meal.

A Bluebonnet Festival Near Austin Next Month Will Have Helicopter Rides & Baby Goats

by Kelly Martin

Texas definitely has one of the most beautiful state flowers in the entire U.S., and every spring we are eternally grateful that our hills and highways are covered with them. There are few spots where you can truly see them in all their glory, one of which is in Fredericksburg! Because of this, a giant bluebonnet festival in the city near Austin is taking place next month and is going to be two days of fun-filled activities.

Fredericksburg Bluebonnet Festival starts on Friday, April 17 at 4 p.m. and ends Saturday, April 18 at 10 p.m. They knew that one day wouldn’t be enough, so they made sure to have at least two days for people to come out.

Tickets for the fest are on sale now and range from $5 to $37 depending on what all you’d like your tickets to include.

Not only will you be surrounded by bluebonnets both days, but The Best of Texas Wine and Food Festival is not disappointing with the food, drink, and entertainment that’ll be there as well.

Local cheeses, amazing wines, live music, helicopter rides through the countryside, and baby goats are just a few exciting features of the fest.

There are varying locations for each attraction, but, generally, everything will be held in the same area.

There will also be helicopter rides over the Hill Country for only $37 plus tax! There’s no better way to see the gorgeous Texas landscape than from the sky.

Old San Antonio Road has the most scenic wildflower route and is where you’ll spot most of the bluebonnets.

Bankersmith Dance Hall will have lots of food and drink to enjoy, and after you’ve consumed as much as you’d like you can dance it all away.

This festival is going to be one for the books, and we can hardly wait for it to be here! April showers may bring May flowers but in Texas, the bluebonnets are blooming sooner rather than later.

And that, my friends, is worth celebrating!

Fredericksburg Bluebonnet Festival

Price: $5 – $37

When: Friday, April 17 – Saturday, April 18 (2020)

Address: Varies

Why You Need To Go: You’ll be in awe of all of the fun activities they have planned as well as the gorgeous bluebonnets.

Tacos, tequila and cerveza: A two-day festival celebrating all three coming to Fredericksburg

If you need another reason to escape to Fredricksburg, there will be a two-day festival celebrating tequila in July.

If tequila is not enough to convince you, maybe tacos and beer will. Best of Texas is hosting its first Tacos, Tequila and Cerveza Fest on July 24 and 25 at the Bankersmith Dance Hall in Fredericksburg. The festival happens to coincide with National Tequila Day, which falls on July 24.

Joe Bachmeier, an organizer for the event, said to expect “lots” of tequila as well as a full bar with beer, wine and liquor.

As for food, Bachmeier said the festival will be “heavily focused” on tacos but added there will also be a food truck serving burgers, hot wings and fries.

The event will also include face painting, a petting zoo of farm animals and a bouncy castle for kids. You can also expect vendors, live music, mariachi bands, games and contests. Food will be served between 4 and 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The hall will stay open until 10 p.m. on both days for drinks and entertainment.

Tickets range between free and $22 and can be purchased through the event’s Facebook Page. Only 500 people per day will be allowed into the event.

Best of Texas hosts other events at Bankersmith Dance Hall like the Texas Testicle Festival, which was held in January. Although the hall has a Fredericksburg address, it is located in a town that was established in 1913 that later became known as a ghost town.

“Our goal with this ghost town is to bring it back to life and host fun events monthly,” Bachmeier said.

What in the World is the Texas Testicle Festival?

With a name like that, you’re a little curious.

So I like to keep an eye on what’s going on throughout our state. Of course with a headline like, come to the first ever Texas Testicle Festival. I had to check it out. It looks like this weekend over in Fredericksburg, Texas they will be hosting this event. I’ll be honest, it’s exactly what it sounds like.

Eight hours of you eating testicles from all sorts of animals. It will include turkey, lamb and veal testicles. Enjoy them battered, fried and grilled up for your testicle craving tummy. Don’t worry, burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, artisan pizzas, gourmet hot dogs and pork ribs will also be available.

The event will also include lawn games, a full bar, live music and a small petting zoo for kids. Yes, bring the kiddos to the testicle festival. I have the majority of a six-year-old, so I would be saying testicle festival all day if I was there.
“This event is just to celebrate the testicle festivals that happen nationwide,” Joe Bachmeier, an organizer with the event said. “We think its a really fun event people will enjoy. Plus, it’s at a really cool venue.” Tickets start at $5 and go up to $35. If you want more information, you can get tickets on their website. If you want to go, it’s happening this Saturday (January 18th).
