Tacos, tequila and cerveza: A two-day festival celebrating all three coming to Fredericksburg

If you need another reason to escape to Fredricksburg, there will be a two-day festival celebrating tequila in July.

If tequila is not enough to convince you, maybe tacos and beer will. Best of Texas is hosting its first Tacos, Tequila and Cerveza Fest on July 24 and 25 at the Bankersmith Dance Hall in Fredericksburg. The festival happens to coincide with National Tequila Day, which falls on July 24.

Joe Bachmeier, an organizer for the event, said to expect “lots” of tequila as well as a full bar with beer, wine and liquor.

As for food, Bachmeier said the festival will be “heavily focused” on tacos but added there will also be a food truck serving burgers, hot wings and fries.

The event will also include face painting, a petting zoo of farm animals and a bouncy castle for kids. You can also expect vendors, live music, mariachi bands, games and contests. Food will be served between 4 and 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The hall will stay open until 10 p.m. on both days for drinks and entertainment.

Tickets range between free and $22 and can be purchased through the event’s Facebook Page. Only 500 people per day will be allowed into the event.

Best of Texas hosts other events at Bankersmith Dance Hall like the Texas Testicle Festival, which was held in January. Although the hall has a Fredericksburg address, it is located in a town that was established in 1913 that later became known as a ghost town.

“Our goal with this ghost town is to bring it back to life and host fun events monthly,” Bachmeier said.
